S3 Recycling Solutions, the largest Nashville-based electronic recycler, today announced that it has purchased a 75,000 sqft warehouse facility at 901 Central Avenue in Springfield, Tenn., where it will expand its operations on November 12, 2018. The company’s headquarters will remain in Nashville at the Entrepreneurs Pad, a co-working space at 413 Welshwood Drive owned by Nashville businessman and S3 Chairman Darrell S. Freeman, Sr.
The expansion comes after two years of record growth – in revenue and staff size – and 11 years in business.
“This new facility will allow S3 to better serve our current customers while giving us the capacity to accommodate future growth with clients across the country,” said S3 CEO Rod McDaniel. “This is an important step for S3 as we experience exponential growth and as we chart out our strategic direction for the next several years.”
This month, S3 signed a $1.8 million contract with a health care provider in North Carolina. Also in 2018, S3 was named by the Nashville Business Journal as one of 26 small businesses making a big impact on the local business community, and McDaniel was named in NBJ’s 2018 class of 40 Under 40, which is designed to recognize young professionals who are making epic moves in Music City.
Freeman was named chairman of the S3 board in 2016. He also serves as a mentor and friend to McDaniel. “The opportunity to invest in S3 was appealing for many reasons,” Freeman said. “Not only is the company positioned to be a major economic force in Middle Tennessee, but personally I want to be a champion for young CEOs like Rod who are hungry for success. I feel fortunate to have the privilege to be on his team and support his vision of entrepreneurship.”
S3’s core business is to provide corporate entities with computer and electronic recycling, secure data destruction, decommissioning, medical and information technology asset disposition. The company helps customers achieve their sustainability goals by managing their surplus electronic equipment and reducing the cost of ownership of their technology assets. Since its inception in 2007, S3 has supported a diverse client base throughout the United States and Canada.
The company plans to add 25 jobs in the next five years.
“Our expansion into Springfield will give us a great opportunity to create jobs for more people in Middle Tennessee, including Springfield,” said S3 Vice President of Operations Lucas McCain. “Our team is excited that this new facility will give us even more capacity to further our mission of combating a growing e-waste epidemic.”
